hi,
*update* see: OpenSource VideoConferencing with OpenLaszlo and Red5
The new extension for the VideoObject are now into the latest nightly build of OpenLaszlo. And there is also a new Red5 Version, now 0.5.
So I decided to update my Blog with a new Version of a Player.
You can see video’s of people who recorded or just record one of yourself by hitting the record button.
I expect the video components will slightly change untill the next release of the OpenLaszlo Server but it is quite impressive what can be done so far.
If you want to see the source code you can access the LZX-Version here:

Very cool. Have you signed a contributor’s agreement, and if so can use this example in the documentation?
You might want to upgrade to the new handler syntax. The method event=”" syntax will be deprecated in 4.0.

Yes, I have been helping Sarah a bit as she was starting with the components.
Sure you can use this example in the docs. But I expect the API will change a bit at recording. Should be much easier in future as i have done.

[…] Sarah Allen and Seb Wagner are working hard on the new OpenLaszlo video feature. Seb is working with us in our office in Berlin right now. This morning he was pretty upset because something didn’t seem to work with the video recording application he set up in his blog. The result was: some videos of him being recorded showing getting really upset. Fun stuff! Have a look for yourself… […]

I removed the *event-syntax* from the code and made a zip with all the resource files

Amazing, I love OL and RED5!

[…] As a Java server, installing, running and developing Red5 applications can be a little daunting for those who haven’t worked with or deployed Java web applications before. However, there’s a great collection of video tutorials over at flashextensions.com that will help you get you up and running quickly. I haven’t seen an example of Flex video Streaming + Red5 out in the wild as of yet, however Sebastian Wagner’s demonstration of what can be done with video using Open Laszlo and Red5 is pretty impressive. Since Flex and Red5 both use the RTMP protocol I don’t imagine setting up such a stream would be very difficult to do. […]

Thanks for your efforts and great work Sebastian. However, I am trying to get your videoplayer/recorder to work using OL v3.4.x and Red5 v0.6RC1 with some complications!?
You are including for instance from a dir called “incubator” some files. In your latest zip posted here, all of those files are missing!? Aren’t some of those files necessary to run the player? Any chance to repost the whole thing?
Thanks a lot!!

Absolutely awesome… great job… and thanks for publishing, it makes the incredibly steep learning curve with OpenLaszlo that much easier when a polished, professional example like this is available. Really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Peter

Ok.. got it now.. simply looks like I got a later “nightly” build of 3.4 and some of the video components have changed..
Never mind the nOoB crap I gave you earlier.

Januar 25th, 2007 at 01:22
sound must be preselected (there is a little bug in the Combobox for choosing the right audiodevice) but i had no time to fix that.

Hi all, Sebastian can you give again a working url for the zip file with the resources please all (video.zip - http://appserver.webbase4students.de/lps-latest/blog/video/video.zip not working)
Februar 21st, 2007 at 12:37
it has change to:
http://www.wagner-sebastian.com:8080/lps-latest/blog/video/video.zip
but see other comments: some of the video-components might have changed in the past since that demo was done. I hope it will work like expected still with legals and latest 3.4.x release. I will review soon.

Very nice site! Good work.

Your demo is very interisting. Can you give me a link or hint how to set up a red5-server-configuration to work with your example? If you can send me the red5 settings and exstensions (demoService.getListOfAvailableFLVs) made by you for the example, it would be very helpfull for me to understand Red5. Is Red5 in the current version scalable (I did’nt found information on that at the Red5-homepage)?
März 7th, 2007 at 15:11
the red5 server already includes the oflaDemo which i do use here.
So if you downlaod red5 server the red5 webapp used in this example is already there.
April 4th, 2007 at 04:57
can you post the server side code (Red5) to save the video please?
Juni 13th, 2007 at 13:05
Hi
I am developing application to stream video on client from server (Red5 or FMS). But the client would be Java client which could read RTMP instead of flash client. Please guide me in development od such client.
